On Jan 10, Occupy Dover is “welcoming” back the Delaware Legislature!
Meeting on Death Penalty last night; Sandy suggested we have a potential teach-in by Ramona Africa at the end of January/beginning of February.
Please think about signing the petition to stop the execution of Robert Gattis; also there will be an action on this on the 14th of this month. Details TBA.
We will be presenting proposal next Wednesday; we’re seeking a nonprofit so we can have a conduit for accepting contributions and have a safe place to keep our money.
Does the group feel it is important to see the actual money for auditing?
How close are we to getting a NPO sponsor?
The proposal on Wednesday should answer this.
Finance committee asked where the cash donations are kept. Location is still being kept secret due to the safety of the person keeping it secure. The donations are split between two different people, donations equal around $1100.00-$1200.00.
Does the physical location really matter when there is a log of what has been received documenting all cash donations? If the amount differs from the logs, the person holding onto the financials is obviously responsible for it.
There are other people who want to know where the money is — it’s a lack of transparency and the over-dominating control of the situation that is making people uncomfortable. It raises too many red flags. This is supposed to be a level democracy instead of it being in charge by one person and people asking what are they doing.
Concern brought up regarding if something were to happen to safe-keepers. There are other people who know the location of the money but who they are isn’t on record for their safety as well. There are multiple people on security who are aware of the cash locations.
Concern regarding that there are only specific people who know where the money is.
Feel that financial committee should know the locations of the donations.
Trust has to be built. Safe-keeper was personally put in charge of the money. To avoid any one person control of anything — including the money. Safe-keeper trusts himself to not use the money and it hasn’t been spent at all.
What they require, since they are the only one who is currently in control of the cash assets, is a group of people bring something to them and the GA (I.E. Financial Committee) so that the money is handed off to a group of people, not just another single entity.
Money-holder is requesting a written guideline on how the money is going to be handled and turned over to the financial committee — A written up document from the people who make up the financial committee.
Brought up the idea of putting the money in to an ESCROW. Requires multiple signatures to take out the money.
$1200.00 is no-where near enough money to cause people grief and to lose people over. We should attempt to resolve this conflict and figure it out without breaking each other or the group down.
Money holder will disclose the location to anyone the GA chooses if the GA gains consensus on it.
Confusion regarding who is on the financial committee.
There are three people on the committee.
What temperature check would financial committee like to bring up to the GA?
TEMPERATURE CHECK
– How does the GA feel about at least one person from the financial committee to know where the money is located and should we do it tonight or wait until the financial proposal on Wednesday.
In favour of disclosing tonight/sooner than Wednesday — 6
Waiting until Wednesday — 2
Abstained — 2
There is concern about transparency. That there needs to be transparency in everything more.
There is concern about how there is only a few people consistently doing everything. Feel as if things need to be disseminated more thoroughly.
