Occupy Delaware members joined residents of Wilmington’s Hilltop neighborhood, as well as members of Wilmington In Transition, in contributing to a community garden project at the corner of 5th & Harrison as part of the citywide Community Project Day in Wilmington today.
Two raised beds had already been built at the site (to add to the two that were already at the spot) as well as compost added to all the beds prior. Work today, included: adding mulch, building trellises and planting flowers.
Future plans for this location, include: repairing and/or replacing the fence, adding a gate and possibly a painting a mural on the wall adjacent to the property.
The garden will be utilized by residents and used for growing vegetables.
Occupy Delaware members who participated are committed to being the change they want to see in the world by contributing in both small and large ways to their communities.
