The Symbolism of Tents
I still had the first image of a tent city on my monitor when my daughter came in the room and saw it. She asked me, all wide eyed, “is that downtown? is that Occupy?”. Made me kind of sad that I had to tell her no, that’s a real tent city. From the mouths of babes though, even a 9 year old caught the symbolism and import.

The big green tent has been taken down. We’ll visit the Delaware Vietnam vets tomorrow, Sunday to see about donating it to them.

Thursday’s guerilla theater in front of Chase bank was very successful, with great news coverage. We’re putting together the voice track and the video. [R.I.P. Steve Ben Israel.]
We discussed sex offender rights. Ostracism. Justice.
Proposed action: Wearing ODE shirts around the mall. With no other message. People will eventually approach us and ask what we’re about and we would engage them.
Another idea for a theater piece, film Jack in front of DART Bus Headquarters. The Rodney Square rehab is not finished yet. They’ve changed the temporary signs to permanent signs on King St. They’re probably not going ever restore bus stops on the King St. side.
We discussed site issues.
1000 people are committed to the 99 mile walk on July 5 for National Gathering. We need to all be there together at least once as Occupy Delaware. On the 3rd there will be some actions. Should be on an evening or Sunday to get more people. The 4th is the day people have off from work. The caravan is coming through Wilmington on the 28th or 29th. We need to plan for their visit. Places to spend the night. A buffet meal. We need to keep on top of exactly when they’re coming through.
Protected speech, freedom of speech means any speech. Where do you draw the line? This terroristic threatening language thing is ironic considering President Bush’s statements and actions around 911.
Any plants sent here to mess with people they should at least be smart about it and find out what the law is first. E.g., sign dowels for protests are considered to be weapons! They’re just looking for excuses to suppress free speech.
Squirrel and muskrat are good eating! A seafoodish sort of pot roast. All meat is gray after the blood is drained out until they dye it, to make it more appetizing. Red dye no. 9. I learned this from when I worked in a slaughterhouse. But with chemicals and GMOs vegetables aren’t all that safe. Man has destroyed the Earth, the ark. Man was put here to be a steward of Earth. Not to second-guess the Almighty, but I would say that the creation of Man did not benefit the Earth. Part of the reason we were put here is to leave the Earth a better place than how we found it.
