Public Hearing on Brandywine Creek gas pipeline crossing

From our friends at the Delaware Sierra Club, we learn of the proposed expansion of a natural gas pipeline that runs through Brandywine Creek. Brandywine Creek is the primary source of drinking water for the City of Wilmington and the surrounding area. The proposed expansion is to facilitate the movement of fracked gas.

“The Department of Environmental Protection will host a public meeting and hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 14, to answer questions and receive comments about Williams-Transco’s proposal to replace a section of natural gas pipeline in East Brandywine and East Caln townships, Chester County.

An informational meeting to explain the proposed method for crossing Brandywine Creek and two sections of Ludwig’s Run will begin at 5 p.m. at the Sykes Student Union Building on the West Chester University campus at 110 W. Rosedale Ave. “This combined public meeting and hearing will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the applications, ask questions and provide testimony,” DEP Southeast Regional Director Cosmo Servidio said.
