The time will come for economic justice, according to the minutes of the last meeting. Unfortunately, the time for economic justice already came and is still lingering around. As a famous quotation reminds us, If not now, then when? If not us, then who? Economic justice enables us to live for another day, to fight other injustices. Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Delaware have their roots in economic, not environmental justice, which seems to have co-opted the agenda – according to the minutes.

It is an honor, and a privilege to count myself amongst the family that is Occupy Delaware, and that is Pacem in Terris. Occupy DE, and the Occupy movement at large, is born of a desire to participate in a transformation of this society into one that truly demonstrates peace, and social justice. These principles and practices are intertwined, integral, and inseparable. As an Occupier, I say, thank you to Pacem in Terris, for your example, your support, and your recognition of our efforts. I have been proud and moved by our association with Pacem in Terris. I’ve known of their work since my younger brother was involved and we hosted teenagers from Northern Ireland in our home. It’s been a pleasure to work with them.
